Seen at Pure Interiors during Sydney Saturday In Design 2011 was this exquisite sectional lounge with bespoke detailing. Note the button detail and leather trim on the cushions. Contrast feature stitching really makes a statement. Made in Italy by craftspeople. This piece would be amazing in a more casual room like a living or family room.
The highlights from this years Designex include many inspiring new products and new directions in design that has been missing for the last couple of years. Overall the quality of the show was very high. Not as many exhibitors as in previous years, however all the companies had new products, so there was quality over quantity. There were many timber floor/ floating floor companies. The trends are larger format boards with a worn finish, almost like driftwood in colours ranging from sand to taupe to charcoal/ black. Most suppliers had a bamboo floor option, the standout being The Market Floors.…
Notice the use of wallpaper on the walls and ceiling of this WC in Queenstown NZ cafe. The black japan stain to the timber panelling gave the space a sophisticated edge. (more…)
Visiting the Lyall Hotel in Melbourne over the weekend I noticed this sophisticated gas fireplace with marble facade and built in book cases each side. Very cosy spot on cold Melbourne day.
Browsing through The Sydney Antique Centre today I was remindered of all the wonderful quirky pieces of old Victorian pieces of furniture that are now obsolete in our 21st century life but can make really interesting statement pieces. (more…)
